Cologne Connoisseur.

Greetings ladies and gents,

I hope that the spring is treating you right despite the weather wanting to act one way today and another way tomorrow. Let’s just hope it decides to get more consistent over these next couple of weeks. Anyway, I wanted to bring to you all a topic that’s near and dear to my heart: cologne! There’s nothing like having a fresh scent to go along with your clean outfit. With that said, I’m going to share with you some of my go to selections and hopefully you’ll check them out for yourself.

The first cologne I want to feature is John Varvatos’ Artisan. I came across this scent a few years ago and it has consistently been in my rotation ever since. Artisan has a woodsy aroma to it that makes you feel like you could be wearing it while standing outside of a log cabin discussing the meaning of life. There’s also a spice aspect to it. So while it isn’t an overwhelming smell, you will still feel its presence when it’s worn.

The next cologne on the list is La Nuit De L’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent. I decided to test this gem out around the same time I found Artisan, and it clearly has made its impact as well. The cool thing about this scent is it’s one that I feel you can either dress up or down. I’d feel more than comfortable wearing this with a nice shirt and jeans then turning around and completing a suit with it. With that type of compatibility, you’re definitely getting your monies worth with this choice.

Our third cologne being covered is the definition of a classic. Polo Black was a scent I’d become familiar with at a young age because I remember my dad having it in his collection. I’d go through his stash and be amazed at how great this one smelled! I told myself I’d have to make that a staple piece for me once I grew up haha. Black is just one of those scents that people are going to know the moment they smell it on you, and they can’t do anything but appreciate it. Great for a date night or a party. I’d have to say it’s probably my favorite out of all the Polo scents, and that’s saying something!

The fourth cologne I’d like to highlight is a game changer for sure. Gucci Guilty just sounds like a smell that’s going to cause trouble, but in a great way! It is built to turn heads with the way its aroma draws people’s noses your way. You may have folks wanting to come give you hugs just because they want to smell you a little bit longer! So if you’re not a fan of too much attention, this may not be the choice for you because it’s going to demand it. It’s enticing, alluring and worn to make a statement.

Last but far from least is Guy Laroche’s Drakkar Noir. I honestly think that this is my favorite cologne. The product has been around for decades at this point, but I discovered it a couple of years ago. It isn’t overly strong, definitely subtle. But somehow it still makes so much noise. You can literally wear this one with a t shirt and joggers, but it will make you feel like a million bucks. It has a sort of mysterious feel to it, if that’s even possible for a cologne. And the fact it’s been available since the early 80s shows that it truly stands the test of time.

Colognes are just one of those things I found myself collecting over the years. There’s several other choices I could have featured, but I figured I’d give you all enough to try out if you haven’t already. Ladies, these are also possible options for your boo so take notes! I hope that these descriptions were helpful though. Having the perfect outfit is great, but what’s that count for if you’re not smelling right?!
