Summer Too Hot!

Greetings Ladies and Gents,

I hope that everything is going well and positive on your side of town. As for myself, I cannot complain. I mean, I could say this summer heat has been doing more than I asked for. But I also can't act like I didn't know or see it coming, as it always tends to do in the dmv. Preparation is everything. We still have significant time left in the summer season to discuss how to go about handling it style wise, and that's what we will tackle today.

When it comes to situations where you know you will be outside and in the midst of unforgiving humidity, the best you can do is soften the blow. Wearing darker colors with the sun already beaming right on your poor face is just asking for disaster. You want to be able to maintain your cool regardless of the circumstances. I recommend leaning toward lighter colors because they do two things: make you stand out and also limit your overheating potential.

As you can see below, I'm wearing a seersucker blazer, which in my opinion is the epitome of a summer staple. When I know I'm not trying to step outside in a dark blue, black or grey jacket mid August, a faithful companion is that seersucker option. There are also seersucker pants that can allow you to really go all out with it. However, I've come to learn that I enjoy mixing colors and patterns when it comes to my suits. I think it's just fun to find those winning combos and less of a chance that you will be stepping into an event looking like someone's twin.

With that said, I went with a light sky blue pant and I felt it flowed naturally with the light natural theme I was going with overall. Granted, light pants and jackets can be that much harder to keep clean amongst the masses. So keep that in mind and be that much more selective with who's getting a hug out of you that day. Of course it wouldn't be me if I didn't have a bit of color contrast in my outfit, and that's where my shoes come into play. I went with a dark blue loafer, which I believe bounces off the light blue of the pants nicely and brings the various blues together in a lovely manner.

The finishing touches come in the form of tie clip, pin and handkerchief selections. That's all about your personal style and what speaks to you. However, never undermine it because these are the types of elements that can spark conversations and beyond. But go out there and be great with your summer looks to end the season on a memorable note. Remember that discovering various looks that work for you is more than half the fun. So don't take it too seriously and do what feels good. Simple.
