My European Stylebook
Greetings Ladies and Gents,
I hope your holiday weekend treated you well with plenty of laughs, food and relaxation. It felt like an absolute blur to me, but thankful for the time off nonetheless. Speaking of time off, I recently had the pleasure of going on a Mediterranean cruise. This cruise hit some pretty amazing spots within France, Italy and Spain. Today, I’ll simply be presenting you with some of the looks I went with for my trip and maybe you’ll find some styles that work for you as well!
When I was first deciding on outfits for my cruise, I knew that I wanted to go with some pretty colorful looks. I felt like it was only right in order to match the energies of the areas I’d be exploring. Granted, I love a good black/grey look any day, but this was an occasion where colors needed to be put on full display.
For our first stop in Ajaccio, I went with a multicolored shirt sporting red, yellow and a bluish/purplish color. They all came together to make a pretty standout button up top. I balanced it out with a comfortable pair of white jeans. With the colorful shirt doing most of the legwork, that allowed for the bottoms to be mild. You’ll find this type of balancing act to be a common theme during my adventures.
The second stop we made was Portofino, and I chose another fun top. Orange and blue, my favorite color combo, make up the shirt along with several different patterns taking place on it. The port was full of vibrant colored boats and buildings, and so I thought it’d make sense that I fit right into the mix. A nice pair of dark jeans work well with both the blue and orange in the top.
Third location we came upon was Tuscany, and along with that came a lovely wine tour. With that on the agenda, I knew I had to give a nice wine sipping look! I switched it up this time and went with a chill white button up top. I let my statement floral pants do all the talking that day, and I was definitely getting eyes laid on them just about every part of that day! Having my shirt be limited in flare allowed for my pants to give just the right amount of personality. That was probably one of my favorite looks of the trip.
The fourth look on our journey takes place in Rome, and you know you have to be on your game in such a historic place! I wore a pink button up shirt covered in black polka dots. I coupled that with a lighter blue pair of jeans and a saddle bag to complete the look. While neither the top or pants were as pleasantly loud as the other days, having the saddle bag included brought some extra detail to the overall clean presentation.
Fifth on the list comes while checking out the lovely Monaco and Monte-Carlo. I must say this was one of my favorite spots we had the pleasure of walking through. The locals walking around just made you feel broke, but in a good way! They were so well put together and stylish. I wouldn’t mind spending more time there, that’s for sure. Anyway, that day was an all white day for my group, so I already had a theme picked for me. But I went with a simple white polo with red trim around the neck and sleeves. I also brought back the white jeans and topped things off with some cream chucks. While I was nervous all day to spill some ketchup or wine on my getup, I thankfully got through the day stain free and looking clean!
The last look I’ll share with you all was worn during our final stop in Mallorca. The culture and atmosphere here was another standout moment of my vacation. It all just felt so genuine and fun. I’d say this was definitely the best way to close the trip out. For this port’s look, I went back to my balance strategy. I wore a simple black tee along with a pair of black pants covered in vertical/horizontal red lines. While the red was basically the only color worn outside of black, it was more than enough to be another head turner, yet in a good way.
A tip I’ll give from all of these looks is that once you find yourself a few statement pieces(pants, shirts, bags, etc), it’s all about how you put them together. One statement piece can make a whole outfit, which makes the work you put into the rest of it pretty limited. While you do have to know yourself and what styles actually show off your personality, you also can’t be afraid to try new things. You’ll never know what prints/patterns/colors work for you until you decide to put it on. I hope you enjoyed taking time to look through my Mediterranean looks with me!
